It was not a waste of time

My husband and I got married in 2008 and shortly after that he took me to a church service where they prophesy over all of the first time visitors. This had me a bit nervous but mainly excited as it was the first time this northern girl had ever done anything like that.

It turned out that it wasn’t scary, and although it didn’t mean much at the time, (as a prophesy is saying what will happen in the future) they gave us a cassette tape with the prophesy on it to take home. Yep, you read it right — a cassette tape;)

Skip ahead a few chapters of my life to 2014 and I found myself at a crossroads where I didn’t know what was next but I knew something had to change.

After I started End Sex Trafficking Day I fell into the business model of helping women build philanthropy into their business as I did. It was exciting, and I thoroughly enjoyed being in a niche that was all my own.

After the excitement of sold out courses, publishing my book, and getting invited to speak at events started to wear off I realized the shoe I had put on that was uniquely mine while it looked good on me, it didn’t fit right — and more importantly I didn’t feel like a million bucks wearing it. I adored my work with EST Day which was all about compassion yet somehow the drive for my coaching business began to feel like the complete opposite.

So in June of 2014, I took that “shoe off” and put my website in under construction mode until I could get a grasp on what was next. And let me tell you — this girl right here, doesn’t like to not know what’s next, so it wasn’t an easy decision.

It wasn’t easy because I felt like starting over was irresponsible of me and with all of the traction I’d made or things I had accomplished quitting would make all of that a big waste of time. I remember telling my friend and mentor Tanya Geisler these feelings and hearing her say, “Erin, you have to journey down your path and you’ll have to be brave, but you have to do it. “

She was right.

It was somewhere around then, that my husband and I found that little white cassette tape with our prophesy on it. We turned it on, laughed at the part where they described our children (as it was true to the t) and then I heard it…

“Erin, I hear God saying your name will be known for your compassion for the world.”

I dropped my head and began to cry.

I couldn’t believe I didn’t remember those words and hearing it after all of these years was like God telling me you’re headed in the right direction. A few days later, I got on my flight to speak at The Soul Gathering in the south of France and I began to see how I could combine what I adore doing with my business.

It was by no means a quick process as here we are 7 months later and I’m finally re-launching my website. So friends, I welcome you to the complete re-alignment of my work + play space online and I’m happy to give you a snapshot of what’s to come in the next few months.

My hopes for this new online space

I desire a space online where clients and friends can feel inspired and motivated to speak up, step out and take action on their big idea. A place of true connection, fear facing and saying what needs to be said so you can do what needs to be done. And tea, lots of tea.

For right now, that looks like…

Tea Talk TV –
I love feeling connected, connecting others and could go on for days about the many benefits of connecting because I’ve personally experienced so much of them by starting End Sex Trafficking Day. One of my favorite benefits of connecting is insight. I’ve been able to understand my business, experiences and feelings a whole lot more from connections + conversations with other women, mom’s and business owners.

Which is how Tea Talk TV came to be. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy communicating with you via the written word, but my new favorite way to create content for you on my site is through my web based tv show Tea Talk TV. You can expect myself + three other amazing humans diving into answering one question on camera and landing in your inbox at least once a month — and the first episode will be out in days! Oh, and I LOVE Tea, hence the theme of the show;)

The Go For It Circle A group coaching community of passionate women who are going for their big idea while staying motivated, inspired, and–most importantly–making real progress.

If you take only one thing away from this, take this –

It’s never too late for you to change your mind. Everything you’ve done up until this point, It wasn’t a waste of your time. It’s your path you’re bravely creating and although you may feel at times like you’re going nowhere it may just be because you’re creating something new.
